I’m not sure where it started, maybe with the ubiquitous red gingham camping tablecloths we’ve all seen. Red Gingham evokes nostalgia and harkens back to a simpler time.
Todays post began with a simple search for inspiration for new kitchen curtains…
And led to this great kitchen with red gingham countertop!
Which made me wonder if perhaps I could wrap my ratty countertops in a little red gingham oilcloth until we have the time/money/inclination to remodel our (mostly original) 1928 kitchen. And that though led to a blog post over at Mimi Sue’s Cottage all about countertops on the cheap. I think I may have another project to add to my growing list!
…But now I’m wondering how many other way there are to add a little red gingham to my life.
There’s bedding, but I’m not sure Mr. Redroof would go for a red checkered bedroom. But maybe he would like these 50′s pin up inspired red gingham shoes?
Or perhaps a few cutouts in red gingham for the Little Petunia’s room?
Or maybe a gingham couch?
But eventually I found the curtain inspiration I was looking for at Posie Gets Cozy. She recently posted a Sneak Peek of her new studio, and boy-oh-boy am am I jealous. I can’t wait to see the rest of the room, it looks wonderful and bright and fresh and airy.
I love the red gingham cafe curtains, and now I’m off to order fabric for my own curtains.
